As creeped out as I am that my little sister is now not only married, but expecting, I still feel the need to go ape woman crazy about helping her nest. Jack made a comment the other day- "You're spending more on this baby that you do on yourself!"
This is fair.
But that's kind of the point of a baby shower, so spend I did. You might notice my terrifying wrap-job. Also, green and red paper screams baby to me, not
christmas. I don't know what you're talking about.

In addition to the shopping, I knitted a square little blanket, in Plymouth Encore Colourspun, one of my favorite blankie yarns, because it is soft enough to hug with, but with only 25% wool content, it is plenty easy to wash and dry in the machine without too much fear. I always tell myself I'm going to be gentle and handwash in the sink with eucalan, but when it comes down to it, I can't be arsed.

It's Prairie Blanket by Oat Couture. I'm pleased with it, very snuggly and pretty, although since I used a semi-self striping variattgated color, it sort of gives away the magic trick of the diagonal ribbing, which is what attracted me to the pattern in the first place.

I don't think babby will mind, though.
The other presents are a huge box of diapers, a little pack of flannel diapers and a foam diaper changing pad. Sensing a theme? Baby stuff makes me squicky, but I have some sympathy about all the poop they are going to be handling.

For dessert, I made a couple strawberry pies, although sadly, I should have thickened the glaze more, it's a little runny. Still tasty though!

I have made the decision to keep one pie and bring only one to the shower based on the fact that Jack is probably going to read this an be sad if I didn't save him AN ENTIRE PIE. Let this be a testament of my lovies.
